Consumer driven innovations that matter
As a first step, Afa ‘reinvented’ its base product – the trigger sprayer – by developing a new (and patented) dispensing methodology, called OnePak™. This technology platform led to the introduction in 2002 of the OpAd™ sprayer, and in 2008 to its next generation, the OpUs™. The sprayer turnover quadrupled and Afa became one of the leading suppliers to consumer product companies in Europe such as Henkel, Procter & Gamble, SCJohnson and Monsanto. The second step was the development in 2004 of the Heineken BeerTender™, a new system for the delivery and consumption of this premier brand, and a perfect match for Afa’s strategy of enhancing the brand with innovative dispensing. But it was not until early 2008 with the introduction of Flair™ that Afa finally was able to provide the market with an innovation that was described by its customers as “a technology that will forever change the food and beverage business”. Since the second half of 2008, Afa has been engaged in the development of applications of the Flair™ platform for some of the better known food and beverage companies in Europe and the United States. |
